Fixed Braces

Gareth only uses top quality ceramic brackets, either 3M Gemini Clear brackets or 3M Clarity Advanced brackets, which are bonded to the front of your teeth.  These brackets both have a very low profile and softened edges for patient comfort, whilst displaying very impressive aesthetics. Combined with white wires and clear elastics to hold the wire into the brackets, it couldn't be any further from the traditional "metal train tracks" that you may associate with fixed braces.

Gareth uses modern nickel-titanium wires coated in white to be less visible. They are very bendy but have shape memory which allows them to return to their original shape regardless of how they are bent. This creates low forces to gently and comfortably move teeth into the desired position. Low forces also increase speed  of movement and reduce the general risks of orthodontic treatment. The majority of the time he will use round wires that move the crowns of the teeth into the desired position, and may also finish in a rectangular wire to move the roots of the teeth into the correct position, often giving better aesthetics and stability.

Fixed braces employ tried and tested traditional techniques, combined with modern less visible materials, moving any of the front 10 teeth in any direction very predictably and reliably. Whilst removable clear aligners or the Inman Aligner have some limitations in movements they can provide, generally fixed braces can deal with most problems.
