How I can help

I'm Gareth, a general dentist at McGrath Dental in Hoylake. I've been straightening teeth with removable clear aligners and tooth coloured fixed braces for 15 years, and with Invisalign clear aligners for the last 9.

With Invisalign I can treat the whole arch. Fixed braces cover the teeth you see when you smile, back to the premolars. Some cases are purely about the look of your smile. Others are the first step in a bigger plan - creating space for an implant, or lining teeth up so veneers or bonding need less drilling. Because I also do the restorative work, I plan the whole thing from start to finish.

How it works

Consultation. We talk about what bothers you. I take scans, photos and records.
Your plan. A full orthodontic assessment and every option explained, including doing nothing. Costs and time frame. Take as long as you need to decide.
Treatment and retainers. We straighten your teeth, then fit retainers to keep them there. Whitening and any composite bonding or porcelain veneers.

How long does it take?

Most treatments take 6–12 months. I'll give you a realistic estimate for your case at consultation.

Will I need teeth taken out?

Usually not. Occasionally, removing a single lower front tooth or a premolar gives the best result. If that applies to you, I'll explain why and what the alternatives are.
